Our goal was to make this event bigger and better than the April 04 2008 show, and we did! Hiacking Music represent hard on this evening. We had more artwork shown, we had more people painting live, each band had a movie of their choice projected onto them, the O Zone Lair came out and recorded all the bands, we had more people show up, and we had more fun all the way around. I would like to thank Jessie for allowing us to use her photos of the event.
Lets start this review with the bands.
13 Day Mission played first, and we played two 35-40 minutes sets. The first set was great, possibly our best performance as a quartet, and fortunately we recorded it and can share it with you! The room filled up as the set went along and by the time we finished there was a decent crowd hanging out, and it was only about 9pm :) Our second set we invited Eric(sax from Miles from Pangaea) to jam with us. During this set Dave's gear crapped out, Eric left the stage, and we ended up as the 13DM three piece you've come to know and love.

Miles from Pangaea played second and Dave was able to leave his gear on stage and do his thing yet again! They bobbed and weaved their way through the psychedelic fusion that is their music, and it was good. All four members were killing it the whole time and this was a really good performance overall. They were able to keep the positive vibes flowing and the audience was very pleased with the jams. I was a little sad that they didn't invite any extra percussionists as they tend to do, but I am sure they will again in the future.

We wanted the Beatrix Kiddo, who are from Athens, to get some exposure so made sure they had a later time slot by setting them up third. They played a really solid set and have definitely been honing in on these new songs( btw they have a new EP out, contact them via myspace ). It is nice to hear them coming together, especially with the vocals. Between songs the singer felt the need to babble about nonsense, which kind of turned me off from the set and I personally felt it was ruining the vibe, but during the songs the vocals were right on point and I did enjoy that. Beatrix brought the jams as usual though and the music part of the night stayed on track.

After months of chatting and listening to their album, I finally got to see The Jungle play live. These guys are one of the strongest groups of musicians that we've met to date. They are all on top of their game technically, and they write jams. They opened the set with some new material, the first song being my favorite of the entire night and also the MP3 below. They have a ton of gear on stage and everyone but the drummer plays more than one instrument at any given time. This makes for a well blended but very thick atmosphere of music throughout their set. I was definitely impressed and very much enjoyed their performance. I am sure we will work with them more in the future.

Now on to the art! This was a great success in my opinion, and I got to meet a lot of new, very talented people. Below are the pictures of art that was already finished and the artists hung to show

Here is a play by play of the canvas that was worked on during the whole event. It started off really strong and was going good, until the end of the night some people found a sharpie...thank you "Steph to tha Dee" for your contribution :D

:)

And some other live painting that was going on.

Overall a very successful event! We made a lot of new friends, had a huge amount of talent between the bands and the visual artists, and hopefully gained some exposure for everyone invloved. We will be doing this more and more so stay posted!
